Green Goddess Smoothie
Why is this smoothie worthy of the title “Goddess” you ask? Because I am a sucker for any form of alliteration. And anything that contains more than two types of fruit deserves the to be called a goddess. This smoothie is packed with goodness, and despite the colour – actually tastes good!
As much as I love spinach, and most green fruit and veg, when it comes to prepared foods, I avoid the colour green. Let’s just say I suffer from some form of PTSD caused by a nursing school that thought porridge with green food colouring was “cute”.
This recipe is packed with nutrition and quite filling. The jars I served this in were way too big, so I’d say that this recipe is perfect to make 4 small smoothies (about a cup in volume each).
To make the Green Goddess smoothie you will need:
1 Cup plain yogurt (greek, low fat or any other yogurt is fine too)
2 Medium bananas
1½ Cups fresh pineapple, cubed.
1 – 2 Cups Spinach (preferably baby leaf)
Place all the ingredients in a blender and make some noise! It’s really that simple!
*add ice if you prefer a more slushy-esque smoothie.
*if you’re not a fan of spinach, use less.
*depending on the thickness of the yogurt, the smoothie might come out very thick, in which case you can a) eat it with a spoon, or b) add some milk or apple juice to make it thinner.
